Natives Shine in National Teams Championships

The NRAA National Teams Championships were held in Townsville, NQ, from May 11th to 13th.  Nine members of the Natives Rifle Club were part of the Queensland Taipan Target Rifle Team competing in these Championships.

The main event, The Merrett match, was won by NSW from Qld and Vic.  Natives’ member, Bob Crawford, won the President’s Perpetual Trophy for top off the rifle (individual) in this match with an excellent 200.25.  Close on Bob’s heels was another Native, Josh Pratt, who won the West Australian Perpetual Trophy for Top Off the Rifle (individual) Under-25 with 200.24, just one centre-bull behind Bob. Both Bob and Josh were coached by fellow club member, Leigh Marett.

In a fantastic display of shooting and coaching skills both Bob and Josh did not drop one point in all the eight ranges fired over the course of three days of the Championships!

The Taipans won the MacArthur Onslow match for five firers from each team shooting 15 shots over 800 metres.  In an exciting contest the winning margin was just 2 central bulls from the NSW team.  Natives members, Kim O’Loghlen and Josh Pratt, each shot 75 point possibles with both Qld and NSW teams each only dropping one point.
